CONFERENCES

Since 1991, the backbone of IARTEM’s activities has been the bi-annual international conference. This is the only regular international conference dedicated to research in all aspects of textbooks and educational media. The conference is held in a different venue each year, usually hosted by the university where a member of the organisation is based. The language of the conference is English.

In addition, there have been regular conferences in different parts of the world. These are often held in the language(s) of the host country.

RENDEZ-VOUS WEBINARS

A recent addition to the IARTEM calendar is the hybrid webinar series. Initiated in 2021 during the pandemic, the first webinars were by remote participation only. Since then, the webinars have welcomed both in-person (currently Paris) and remote participants.

The webinars are a lively forum for participants to engage with leaders in the field and current doctoral researchers. Keynote speakers in education and materials reflect on their specialisation, followed by brief presentations from doctoral students. The webinars are aimed not only at the research community who attend the international conferences but also those working in educational and publishing fields anywhere in the world who might be unable to attend the conferences.
